A Saudi government university located in Makkah Al-Mukarramah and one of the oldest and largest universities in the Kingdom. It was originally founded as the College of Shari'a in 1369 AH / 1949 AD by order of King Abdulaziz Al Saud, and was subsequently granted royal approval to become a university under its current name in 1401 AH / 1981 AD.
