The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, in cooperation with the National Center for Privatization, announced today, Monday, the conclusion of the Expression of Interest phase for the Municipal Laboratories Management Privatization project in five municipalities in the Kingdom: Al-Jouf Region, the Eastern Region, Northern Borders Region, Qassim Region, and Jeddah Governorate. The project aims to enhance public–private partnership with the goal of raising the efficiency and quality of municipal laboratory services in the Kingdom.
The Ministry stated that 28 letters of interest were received from local and international companies that expressed their desire to participate in the project, as follows:

Through this project, the Ministry seeks to enhance the safety of citizens and residents by raising the quality and efficiency of municipal laboratories. The project also aims to provide accurate and reliable testing of food, water, and construction materials in the Kingdom.
The scope of the project includes equipping the laboratories with the required modern materials and equipment, in addition to operating and maintaining the laboratories throughout the contract period. It also covers meeting the municipalities' needs for sample analysis, with the laboratories being handed over to the municipalities at the end of the contract to ensure continuity of government service delivery.
The Municipal Laboratories Management Privatization project is an important step toward achieving the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which aim to strengthen the role of the private sector in providing public services and achieving sustainable development. Through this step, the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing hopes to improve the level of environmental and health services provided to citizens and residents, in addition to increasing transparency and efficiency in the management of municipal laboratories.
